About the Event
H.O.W. (Hands-On Workshop) 4 HipHop is an introductory workshop created by Nulyphe Multimedia for implementing hip-hop culture using the five elements of the art form. They've brought this program to the Boys and Girls Club and throughout the Washoe County School District, and we can't wait for them to join us at Reno Public Market!
The workshop is designed to integrate technology with hip hop, and to encourage knowledge, understanding and group participation. The instructors will feature accredited individuals who have worked in the industry, as well as local creatives who can inspire kids to connect to their local community. Hip-hop has a rich culture about self-expression, free movement, and sharing your identity. We'll focus on the five core elements of the art form: MCing, Breakdancing, Art & Graffiti, DJing, and Knowledge of Self. Along with exploring the history of the elements, we'll have hands-on activities for kids to get involved.
From learning about rhyme schemes and metaphor (and writing lyrics of their own!) to getting a chance to use turntables and real DJ equipment, this is a great opportunity for kids to connect with this art form, and get inspired for their future.
This workshop is free to attend, but advance registration is required. Sign up HERE!
This workshop is intended for children ages 8-13. Parents are required to be present for the whole event.
